I very well understand your concern and after reading the query it shows that you have the problem of steroid abuse along with dependence of the same.
To telly you medically- Melacare cream contains steroid in it. The cream is fine but on its prolonged and illogical use without dermatological supervision it can cause red irritated skin and thinning skin with darkness of the affected area.
For the betterment I suggest you to have sun protection. I suggest my patients to use Azelaic acid or Kojic acid creams under dermatological guidance only. You can meet a proper dermatologist near you and get best guidance regarding your problem.
In future to do not try to use anything form your own side.
Take care
