What Causes Decrease In The Heart Rate After Increasing Verapamil Dosage?

I am 81, 5 7 , 300 lb woman. My doctor recently doubled my Varapamil from 120/day to 240/day. I have had 3 episodes of heart rate dropping to 30 followed by seizure. One cardiologist wants to insert a pacemaker, another says to discontinue the Varapamil as it is causing my heart to mis-fire.

Hello,

Verapamil lowers the heart rate. Since you've only experienced the low heart rates after doubling the dosage it's almost certain that Verapamil is the cause. You should immediately talk to your doctor about it. The dosage should be decreased according to your doctor's instructions.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
