What Causes Decreased Platelet Count After Suffering From Viral Fever?

I had a viral fever a week ago ..then I was asked to take a blood test in which the platelets count was 1.05 lakh and showed the possibility of urinary infection..my doc told me to eat taxonomy 200 mg twice a day and advised me to continue the blood test ..i don t have dengue o malaria o typhoid but the platelets count decreased to 71000 and now is 52000.The doc says to continue doing the yesy as well as the medication but im scared now.. Can you help?

Hi,

This is due to a viral infection. Viral infections can cause platelets to decrease. You need to report ER again for necessary investigations of blood, urine. Accordingly, you can be treated. Yes, if platelets are decreasing it is definitely a matter of concern to be addressed.
