What Causes Delay In Period Inspite Of Being On NuvaRing IUD?
k so I am 10 weeks pp. I bled for three weeks after delivery and stopped for 2 weeks then started my cycle which was December 10th. On December 29th I went for my check up she put me on the nuvaring and told me to Insert on the 1st and remove in the 27th. But the first month since I should start around January 10th that I should still have my normal cycle and not to remove it that when I Take it out on the 27th I should have a second cycle. Not to worry it would just be regulating it. I m like clock work. As of today I still have not started my regular cycle which she said I would have this first month before it regulates me. I m now 11 days late for my normal cycle. Is there a chance I m pregnant again. I don t think i should go a month and a half before I get a cycle. Beings she said that I would still have my regular one this month. Help please
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Periods are irregular and delayed in post partum period dur to hormonal changes caused by lactation. Moreover, chances of pregnancy while using nuvaring correctly is quite rare. However, the contraceptive efficacy of nuvaring is not 100%, therefore I would suggest you to get a urine pregnancy test done. If negative, then you need not worry as it would be due to hormonal changes caused by lactation. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Dr Deepti Verma
