What Causes Delay In Period Post Unprotected Sex?

Hi Doctor, My girlfriend and me had intercourse before 4 weeks without a precaution and i ended up ejecting inside her and i asked her to take an ipill but she dint and later two weeks after that we had an intercourse again without precaution and again the same thing happened but this time she took an i pill the same night. The problem is she hasnt got her periods yet, i'm really worried a lot. Is the periods delayed due to the tablet or is she pregnant? If she's pregnant what's the best option to get it removed or aborted? Can it be done by pills? or does she have to undergo an operation? Please help me!

Hi,
I understand your concern.
* An unprotected sex in a lady in fertile phase of life & having normal menstrual cycle-- the first cause of delayed menses goes in favor of pregnancy.
Now the question remains if the first sex was in her fertile period( i.e. around 12th to 16th day of menses-
-if it is so, there is chance of pregnancy.which can be diagnosed by blood HCG testing.The +ve test needs abortion because of I pill she has taken( having chances of fetal anamoly)
- In case HCG testing is -ve ,there is no pregnancy -- your period is delayed by the I pill taken after 2nd sex. The norml mense cycle is going to be disturbed due to high hormone containt of I pill.
* in case of performing abortion - it can be done by medicines MTP kit can be used . It has two type of pills / by syringing
- start with Mifepristone 200 mg
- Follow it with Misopristol 800 after 24-48 hours.
- Abortion usually takes place, still it is better to be under a gynecologist's care, for evacuation may be needed in incomplete abortion/ confirmation of complete abortion/ follow up & advise for future contraceptive advise.
