What Causes Delay In Periods And Abdominal Cramps Despite Having Negative UPT?
Hi there, so I was due for my period 2 wks ago but missed it. I have recently been travelling and not eating very well so I took some laxatives for a coule of weeks to keep things moving. I m not a regular person anyways so they helped kind of flush me out. I took a pregnancy test this week and it was negative but I m kind of worried it was a false negative. I feel somewhat bloated with a little cramping but I m not sure if its all in my head but I ve never missed a period before. I ve lost weight as well and been walking a lot this summer. Just wondering if its the combination of everything this past month that made me miss it or should I be concerned I m pregnant?
Yes it is possible to have periods longer than before. As you have mentioned above that you have lost some weight and doing exercises this too could cause delayed periods
If you are really worried about pregnancy you can repeat the test in urine and blood in nearby laboratory as well. I suggest you to consult your gynecologist if not satisfied with the results.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Sameen Bin Naeem, General & Family Physician
