What Causes Delay In Periods And Abdominal Cramps Despite Having Negative UPT?

Hi, my partner and I are ttc and i don t know if I m pregnant yet, but my app says I m on my 5th week. I have been experiencing mild cramping and I never cramp, not even around my period. I was supposed to start my period 1/30/16, but I didn t start. On 2/1/16 I went to the bathroom and when I wiped I noticed light bleeding and every time I went to the bathroom, I noticed the the blood was getting heavier. Later on that night it slacked up for a little bit then picked back up heavy again. I ve never have a period like this nor cramps. I took a pregnancy test and it came out negative. Please tell me what this means?

Hello dear,
Understand your concern.
In presence of bleeding, pregnancy is unlikely.
But sometime pregnancy kit give false result so repeat after 7 days to confirm or you can do blood HCG level that is very specific than UPT.

Following are the reason for late periods with cramps:
1. High level of stress
2. Change in life style
3. Late ovulation
4. Excessive exercise
5. Drugs: Birth control pills, thyroid medication, Excessive tea and caffeine
6. Thyroid problem
7. Hormonal imbalane
8. Dysfunctional uterine bleeding
9. Endometriosis
10. Fibroid and rarely precancerous conditions
11. PCOS

For pain: Take tablet Meftal Spas Two times a day for 3-4 days.
Do regular walking and exercise.
Eat healthy diet

Also note that
Menstruation required co ordinate action of various hormone that secreted by ovary (estrogen and progesterone) and brain (FSH and LH).
If any above hormone is decreased or increased there is imbalance in menstruation.
So please do full hormonal profile : Estrogen, progestron, LH, FSH, HCG and thyroid hormone.
USG Abdomen
Endometrial biopsy
Hysteroscopy
Ovarian follicle study

That help to diagnose all above causes.
After confirmation you can take treatment according So please go ahead.

Hope this may help you
All the best.
Stay healthy.
