What Causes Delay In Periods And Breast Soreness Inspite Of Taking Contraceptives?

I m 5 days late on my period. Last month Oct 4 (when I started my period) I started a birth control for a week but stopped cause it was effecting my emotions a lot. Now it s Nov 9th and I haven t got my period breasts are very sore.. Took a home PT.. Was invalid. Could it be the BC I was on for a week that messed up my period or could I be pregnant?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

If the pregnancy test was done 11 to 14 days after possible conception then it is likely accurate because at that time, tests can usually pick up the HCG hormone.

If it was done before this time, then it should be repeated for an accurate picture.

If this is negative and has been done at an appropriate interval, then it is likely the pills that caused the disruption especially if your periods were previously regular and normal.

In this case, if there are no other contributing factors, it should return to normal in a few cycles.

I hope this helps
