What Causes Delay In Periods Despite Having Negative UPT?

I missed my last period and took 2 home pregnancy tests at different days on 15 late day and 17th day . both negative. I went to the doctor on 20th day late and she did another urine pregnancy test. All negative. She gave me primolut n, 3 tabs for 5 days. Now I finished my primolut n course 3 days ago. I had the pains yesterday but nothing after that. What should I do. It s over 30days now.

Hello,

It is normal that sometimes period may be delayed.9-10 menstrual cycles per annum is normal. Abnormal conditions that may cause delayed or irregular periods are pregnancy, stress, sudden weight loss, being overweight, doing too much exercise, taking the contraceptive pill, the menopause, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), hypothyroidism, and uncontrolled diabetes.

Usually menstrual cycle duration between 21 to 40 days is normal. Hence, you can miss one period without being pregnant. Just relax don't get stressed too much.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
