What Causes Delay In Periods Despite Having Negative UPT?
I married on 4th July 2015 and I had my period on 19th July for 5 days. That was the last. I didn t my period last month and before this I have issues of irregular periods but however for the last 6 months before my marriage my period was regular. I am worried as I went through pregnancy test but then it was negative.
Hi, Thanks for writing to HCM. First thing to be ruled out for delayed or missed periods is pregnancy. Since your urine pregnancy test is negative, it could be due to other causes too. Apart from pregnancy, delayed menstruation could be due to Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD) or due to hormonal imbalance. The following tests would highlight upon what could be the cause: 1. Blood for hormonal levels of beta-HCG, FSH, LH and Prolactin levels. 2. Trans-vaginal ultrasound scan (TVS) of pelvis. KIndly consult Gynecologist with the above mentioned investigation reports, so that it could be diagnosed appropriately and treated accordingly. Hope the information provided is clear. All the best.
