What Causes Delay In Periods Despite Having Negative UPT?

Hi, I had unprotected sex and managed to get the morning after pill quite soon after...and my period is 3 days late. I have taken 2 pregnancy tests and both have come back negative. Is there a chance that my period may still come? Or should I test again at a later date?

HI,
I understand your concern.
If you have taken morning after pill within 72 hours of unprotected sex, the chances of contraception are good. Earlier the consumption of pills, better the contraception.
THe pills act by postponing ovulation.. so the next period is delayed by 8-10 days. You will get your periods within a week.
Home pregnancy test is best done after 8 days delay of menses. If you still have some doubts, you should repeat test at proper time.
Thanks.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have soft lump on inner butt cheek . Well Stress, tensions on personal or professional front, unaccustomed exercise, rapid changes in your weight, ingestion of hormonal medications, late nights, erratic eating, changes in climate or altitude, traveling , all these can interfere with your cycles . Although the pregnancy test should be done from 4-7 days of delay after your normal period date . Because if your perform it earlier the hormones are too less in urine to respond test . So i would suggest you to do test between 4th to 7th days , if it still comes negative then consult gynecologist and go for ultrasound to confirm the diagnosis .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
