What Causes Delay In Periods Despite Having Negative UPT?
Hello, I had my period November 25-30 and use an app to help keep track of my period. I was suppose to get it December 18th but did not. I was already three days late and had unprotected sex. I took a home pregnancy test 10 days after conception and then again 14 days later both are negative. I am not 17 days late for my period and not sure if I am just stressing myself out or am pregnant.
I can understand your concern. If you do not trust the home pregnancy test, you can go for blood test which gives more confirmatory results results regarding pregnancy.
In addition, there may be many reasons for delayed or absent menstruation other than pregnancy such as polycystic ovaries, premature ovarian follicle failure, thyroid dysfunction, infection of the uterus or ovaries etc. So if you are delayed for your periods for more than 10 days in absence of pregnancy, you should consult a gynecologist for physical examination and further investigations like blood tests, sonogram etc.
I hope this answer helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Take care.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
