What Causes Delay In Periods Despite Having Negative UPT?

The last day of my cycle was September 24th. I spotted on the 10 and 11th, only when I wiped. I was supposed to start my monthly October 22, I am now 2 weeks late today. I have taken pregnancy tests all in which are negative, the lady told me there is no such thing as a false negative, i know people personally that have been 2 months pregnant and only got a positive with the blood test. I went to an appointment to get blood drawn, they refused to do so. They told me my spotting for 2 days. only when wiping was my period. I ve never started early, never been late, never have a spotted. Should I wait it out? Set an appointment elsewhere for blood test?

Hello,

There are different reasons for delayed periods, like stress, hormonal imbalance or pregnancy. As you have taken UPT already and it came negative, Its just 2 weeks since you had last period. I would suggest you to wait for another week and get another UPT done. If it comes negative then the reason for delayed period might something other than the pregnancy.

I would advice you, even if the UPT comes negative, rather than staying in doubt you should see a gynecologist and talk about it. She will take your history and do physical examination, after that if needed she might ask you to get some diagnostic tests done. Follow her advice on further steps on the same issue.

Hope this helps. Don’t hesitate to contact for further queries in future.
