What Causes Delay In Periods Inspite Of Being On Birth Control Pills?

I have been on birth control pill for almost a year. It s a three week pill pack, last week no pill and my period usually comes midweek. Only symptoms of possible period were breakouts last week like I normally get. Still no period, but do have gas. No missed periods prior to this and pills are taking same time daily. Any suggestions? Could I really possibly be pregnant if I am taking all precautions accurately? How long should I wait to act on this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
I understand your concern.
When you have taking pills regularly /at the same time/ without missing single dose-You don't have any chance to conceive. You will have bleeding within a couple of days . Some times illness,physical/psychological stress can delay menses.
* In case of delay, start with new pack from day 5 of menses.
* You have to wait for bleeding for 7 days & start with new pack of pills on 7th night. In case you have same problem next month, consult your doctor.
Thanks.
