Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Plan B is an
emergency contraceptive pill. Such pills offers 89% protection in preventing
pregnancy. It needs to be taken within 72 hours of
unprotected intercourse. Earlier it is taken, the chances of protection seems to be better.
After taking the pill, it causes withdrawal bleeding in the form of periods within 3 weeks from the day the pill has been consumed. Most females bleed in about a weeks time.
In case this doesn't happen, you need to seek medical attention immediately to rule out pregnancy because of pill failure.
In your case, it appears that you have exceeded the time in which the pill should have been taken.
With delay in periods, you need to confirm weather you are pregnant or not. Kindly get the following investigations done:
1. Urine pregnancy test.
2. Serum beta-HCG levels.
3. Trans-
vaginal ultrasound scan (TVS) of pelvis.
You may kindly consult Gynecologist for proper opinion and management. Hope the information provided is clear.
All the best.
