What Causes Delay In Periods While On Canesten?

Hi Recently, my cycle has changes and instead of every 26 days I get my period every 30 days. Today is the 32nd day and I haven t gotten my period. I was wondering if the canesten tablets (I used 3 tablets) that I used just a week ago can affect my period.

Hello,

I can understand your doubt regarding Canesten cream. Canesten is an anti-fungal agent that may cause allergic reactions or other skin conditions as side effects but it is not known to cause change in menstrual cycles as it has no hormonal effects on the body.

A delay of some days in menstrual cycle can be accepted due to changes in temperature of weather, amount of stress on your body etc. However, if it is delayed by 10 days or keeps delaying every month, then a consultation with a gynecologist and further investigations into cause are advised.

I hope this answer helps you. Thank you for choosing us to help you. Let me know if you have any follow up questions!

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
