Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My doctor has just prescribed me Metformin. I am trying to conceive and she said my insulin levels are high, so she prescribed me the Metformin to see if it would help. I am now 10 days late and I have never had issues before with irregular cycles, they are usually pretty much on time. I have taken 2 pregnancy tests and both were negative. Could it be the metformin causing the delay or am I possibly pregnant??
Metformin does influence the menstrual cycle as well, and also helps with weight loss in a small amount. So it could quite possibly be metformin, but ruling out/confirming pregnancy should also be done using a serum pregnancy test at the doctors office.
Best wishes.
