What Causes Delay In Periods?

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to chat with me. I have a pregnancy question.. I had unprotected intercourse over 2 weeks ago. Had what seemed to be a early period 2 days after and missed my actual period date. What is the chance I could be pregnant? Thank you!

Hi,

If you had unprotected intercourse over 2 weeks ago and missed your period date, there is a possibility that you could be pregnant. However, it is also possible that the early bleeding you experienced after intercourse was not a true period, but rather implantation bleeding, which can occur when a fertilized egg implants in the uterus.

To confirm whether or not you are pregnant, the most reliable method is to take a pregnancy test. You can take a home pregnancy test, which detects the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in your urine, or visit a healthcare provider for a blood test, which can detect lower levels of hCG and provide a more definitive result.

It is important to note that there can be other factors that cause a delay in periods, such as stress, changes in weight, hormonal imbalances, or certain medications. If you are concerned about a missed period, it is recommended that you speak with a healthcare provider.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi,

Having scanty period around expected date of periods, followed by no normal periods could be implantation bleeding and you seem to have chance of conception. Pregnancy can be confirmed after 8 days delay in periods by home pregnancy test. Please consult your gynecologist after the test.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
