Before my last period I used the emergency contraceptive pill. The pill made my period last longer and have a heavier flow. This month my period is now a week late which is very unusual for me. I took a pregnancy test this morning and it showed a negative result. Is there a chance that the emergency contraceptive pill could be affecting this period as well as my last or should I be concerned that something else is causing my period to be delayed?
Thank you
Since your previous period was delayed (due to emergency contraceptive pill) and was prolonged, this time your period is delayed.
I hope you have not performed pregnancy test too early. Pregnancy test is reliable a week after the missed period; earlier the test may report false negative results. You may repeat the test again on overnight morning first urine sample after 4 days. If still this test is negative, you are not pregnant. Then you may take some progestational preparation like Deviry for 5 days; within 5 days you should get withdrawal bleeding.
I hope this solves your problem.
