What Causes Delay In Periods?

hi i have missed my period and I think I am pregnant. The first day of my last menstrual cycle was June 27. I took a home pregnancy test and it was negative, but based on my sexual activity I am probably barely 5 wks along. I have a cervical biopsy tomorrow should I tell my doctor or am I over reacting?
