What Causes Delay In Periods?

hi.. my periods day was due on 7th of this month.. on 6th my boyfriend rubbed his penis over my vagina but did not insert it! today is 16th and i still dint get my periods
i took a home pregnancy test yesterday n got a negative!
what could the reason be?
