What Causes Delay In Periods?

My name is Smitha.I am 33 yr old women . my periods was due on jan 13th.. usually from past few months it is delayed by 4 days.. but this time 18 days late.. today i fot my period that is 31st january.. This type of 18 days delay had happened earlier also around 2 times. This is 3rd time such delay after 3 years. pl suggest
