What Causes Delay In Regaining Consciousness After Heart Attack?

My friends husband had a heart attack yesterday and when he collapsed he hit his head on the water cooler. Do not know how long before someone found him. They put 4 stents in however he has not regained consciousness? They said they were keeping his body temperature down and now they are going to gradually warm his body temperature. Not sure if there is any brain damage issues they have not told her. He is on blood pressure medicine and cholesterol medicaine. He is 54 years old not sure of his weight but he is definitely not overweight and is active. Does not smoke.

If the patient was resuscitated , usually after that they are cooled down; there body temperature is artificially decreased for some time. This procedure usually is performed to prevent brain damage from hypoxia.

I hope I could answer to your query.
