What Causes Delay In Walking In A Child?

Hello, My 15 month old daughter cannot stand unsupported or walk. She does, however, cruise furniture and crawl. Her paediatrician says she will when she is ready but I am concerned because in the states she would have gone for PT at this point but we are in Canada now and the system is totally different. I want to know what I should be doing and what the problem is. Help?! Cheers

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Do not compare your child's milestones with other children. Every child is unique and focus on giving calcium rich foods like greens, milk. Encourage your child to walk by holding hands and supporting. Sturdy push toys might help. Eggs and fish also should be included in diet. Enjoy the journey and don't stress about milestones unless until your pediatrician raises concerns.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
