What Causes Delayed Menstrual Cycle Other Than Pregnancy?

Hi. I need help. The last time I had sex was on June 05th. I got very very light periods on June 29th ( a week later than my real cycle date). In July I didn t get any periods till now. Before this I always had regular and heavy periods. I was wondering the periods I had on June 29 was implantation bleeding. And because I m pregnant I didn t get any periods now. I bled lightly for three days maybe. I took a test through a strip at home during the day and not with the morning pee as stated online in several websites. It came negative. I ve been having milky white discharge. And no sign of periods. I don t feel like eating, or I eat too much. I get tired a lot. I can t go to health clinic here, Im not married and its an Islamic state no hospital will treat me for an abortion. In 8th week of pregnancy how accurate are pregnancy strip test results? Or are these strip s only able to detect pregnancy earlier and not this late? I did change continents, and my diet has changed and Im stressed- could that be the reason for no periods? What should I do? I ll take another pregnancy test at home. And if I am pregnant what should I do? Please reply asap. Thanks!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Periods can be delayed because simple reasons like.. anaemia, prolonged illness, change of continent can affect menstrual cycle( cold atmosphere has tendency to delay periods/ hot climate tends to cause shorter menstrual cycles )/ Hormonal imbalance -- in thyroid problems, ovarian problems, PCOD can cause delayed periods.
In your case though climate may be the cause, it's important to exclude other causes. So get physically examined by a gynecologist, get investigations like hormonal assessment & USG pelvis done to exclude/ confirm other causes of delayed periods. & start specific treatment .
As for pregnancy test is concerned, 8 weeks is sufficient time for home pregnancy testing. Pregnancy can be diagnosed from 8 days delay in periods to any time in pregnancy. But after 2 months usually USG is done to diagnose it.
Thanks.
