What Causes Delayed Menstrual Periods?

a few months after my marriage i have noticed that my periods get delayed by 8 to 10 days from the normal date.even b4 marriage i use to get my periods 2 to 3 days late but now the time has extended too much.is it normal or should i consult a doctor for the same.thanx.
