What Causes Delayed Menstruation While Treating Vaginal Infection?
Hi, my period is delayed for ten days already. I am not sexually active for a month after my latest period. Also, last month, 3 days before my period, I had a vaginal infection and I was pretty stressed about it until I used Monistat 1 after I finish my period. Am I pregnant or having any disease that causes my delay menstruation?
Delayed menstruation can occur as a result of stress or medications. Delay in your cycles will normalize after the drug is stopped. You can take a urine test to rule out pregnancy. In case your periods are delayed for more than a month, you may require hormonal pills to regulate your cycles. Norethisterone or combined oral pills are commonly used for this purpose.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
