What Causes Delayed Menstruation With Abnormal Bleeding?

My period was 20 days late so I just assumed that I might be pregnant and then i started bleeding a pinky red, it started off light then was heavy for a day and now its really light again. I am not experiencing any pain but every now and then I feel a flutter in my lower abdomin. What could it be?
