What Causes Delayed Period And Brown Vaginal Discharge While HPT Is Negative?

I guess I have a weird situation I work in the health care field so I feel weird asking this, but I haven t had an actual period in 40 days, a week ago I started getting brown mucus discharge followed by light spotting that only notice when I go to the bathroom and wipe no need for a pad or tampon. This has continued to go on for the week. I have taken 4 pregnancy test all negative, what could be causing this?

Hello,

The delayed period may be caused by hormone imbalance due to stress or maybe you are near menopause. You may need to take progestative pills such utrogestan to help periods to come. Use contraceptive pills to have more regular periods.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
