What Causes Delayed Period While HPT Is Negative?

hi Doc,,, i am Mae,,i took a pills by the second line by mistake i took the last one, so by next other day i continuesly taking the 1st second line of the pills,,i got delayed menstration but only 4days not normal. and this month my menstration date already passed but still no blood comes, i took preg test so many times the last time was yesterday but its always negative,,pls help me doc, thanks

Hi,

If the pills you take are single hormone pill (Progesterone only pill). This can be side effect of the pill itself. Any contraceptive pill needs to be taken regularly as advised and at the same time of day. Taking it haphazardly can cause hormonal imbalance &irregular periods. If pregnancy test is negative while you had taken pills regularly. It can be hormonal imbalance. It needs to be investigated by USG pelvis, thyroid test& pituitary test. Consult a gynecologist for specific advise.
