What Causes Delayed Period While HPT Is Negative?

Hi doctor, I am mathi. My period is not coming to after five days, so i was think ,if i was pregnant. Then i went to used pregnancy test kit in my home.i got a negative result. I got my periods regularly in before 6 months. In this situation i am confused, am i pregnant or not?

thank you for asking your concern madam and welcome to hcm. first i would assure you delaying period is the most common period related problem and almost all women experience this problem at least once in their life. first i should not call it as a problem and if it is happening first time without the history of any sexual contact then it is not a problem. UPT can come negative some time so we can not depend on single upt test i would suggest you to please recheck UPT after one week. if you are in your twenties then no need to worry because occasional irregular period is common in initial few years. madam i would suggest you to wait and repeat UPT after one week and do not become nervous.
