Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I m 19 years old and my fiancé and I have been trying to conceive for about 1 year and 4 months and haven t had any luck; well I m now a week and a day late on my menstrual cycle but I took a pregnancy test this morning and it was negative. Do you have any advice or anything?
Hi I can understand your concern for not being able to conceive. I would suggest you to kindly repeat the home pregnancy test on an early morning urine sample. If it is still found to be negative, the delayed periods could be due to a. Hormonal imbalances like thyroid, prolactin, or sex hormones b. Diseases of the ovary, uterus c. Emotional or physical stress d. Any underlying infection e. Increased physical activities f. Nutritional deficiencies, like anemia or inadequate diet
I suggest you to consult a gynecologist for proper evaluation and may be you need to have certain lab tests like hormones level, ultrasound scan to find out the possible reason for the delayed period.
