What Causes Delayed Periods After Recovering From Chicken Pox?

Hi doc, I am a 23 yr old female and was affected with chicken pox just after my period ended. I had unprotected intercourse but with the withdrawal method never had I gotten pregnant. I have always had a regular cycle but this month I haven t menstruated, I am 6 days delayed. Could this be due to the chicken pox and the treatment with acyclovir I underwent? Would appreciate any response.

Hi,

Yes, it could be due to an infection.
It can cause delayed periods but dear withdrawal method is not a guaranteed method for avoiding pregnancy. So you should have an UPT done just in case.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
