General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
i pill is an emergency contraceptive pill. It needs to be taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. Earlier it is taken, the chances of protection seems to be better.
After taking the pill, it causes withdrawal bleeding in the form of periods within 3 weeks from the day the pill has been consumed. Most females bleed in about a weeks time.
In case this doesn't happen, you need to seek medical attention immediately to rule out pregnancy because of pill failure.
Hope the information provided is clear.
All the best.
