What Causes Delayed Periods After Taking I Pill?

Hi, My period dates are usually 16th or 17th of the month. bleeding begins on either of these two days. I had sex with my friend on the 15th and after it, the condom slipped off, keeping it in my vagina filled with ejaculatory fluid. Obviously we were tensed, so I took an oral pill Ipill in 2 hours. It has been over two weeks, I still havent got my period for that month. I did a pregnancy test but it showed negative. I had taken the evening samples, thinking it would be fine. Why isn t my periods coming? please help!

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood the concern. Firstly, you cannot be pregnant as you were in the safe period when you had the intercourse. Ovulation occurs two weeks ahead of the next period and this is when an intercourse can cause pregnancy. The emergency contraceptive pill contains high hormone dose and this is the most likely cause for the delayed natural period. Please see your health care provider for further management. You will need a sonogram of the pelvis to know the status of the pelvic organs and if everything is fine, you may be induced for a period. Hope this helps.
