What Causes Delayed Periods After Taking Emergency Contraceptive Pills?

Hi, I ve taken emer contraception 3 times within one month. I have not yet gotten my period but it s due in a week. I however started having brown discharge with hints or red and some clots. The rest of my body feels fine because I ve been watching out for any symptoms of pregnancy and there s none so far. I m still so nervous. Could I be pregnant?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, welcome to Healthcaremagic. I read your query and I understand your concern. I don't think you are pregnant if you took the emergency contraceptive within 72 hours. But don't take more than one in a month. The delayed period is a side effect of it. Hope my answer was helpful, if yes, vote helpful. Regards, Dr Olgeta Xhufka ( general and family physician ).
