What Causes Delayed Periods After Tubal Litigation?

Hi. My tubes were tied in June 14 of this year. I just had my son on June 4 this year. My period is late and I have been spotting here and there. Last night my husband and I had sex and I started bleeding thinking it was my period but nope. It was only slight blood. I have changed my diet, eating healthier and exercising more. I also am 37 years old... Soon to be 38. I do not want any more children and cannot afford anymore. Thanks. Kim

Hi,
Firstly, return of normal ovulation and menstruation take one or two months at least after a delivery and especially if feeding the baby, they tend to be disturbed due to hormonal imbalance. Meanwhile, breakthrough bleeds can be observed. Secondly, after tubal ligation, menstrual disturbances are common. Pregnancy is a remote possibility in your case. You need to have a postnatal visit to your consultant and get hormonal profile and a sonogram. It is good that you are maintaining good routine and stick to it. Hope this helps.
