What Causes Delayed Periods And Abdominal Cramps?

Hi :) I track my periods on an app and every month on the exact date the app says, my period comes. I’m 4 days late and have been experiencing light cramping. Today I had a little pink/light red bleeding happening. Now it’s a little more heavier bleeding (not as much as a normal first day period) and a little more cramping. Can cycles change given my periods have been regular for many, many years - I’m 29 and I’ve been getting my periods regularly since I was 13.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes periods can be delayed for many reasons like
*hormone disbalance
*stress
*changes in body weight either increased or decreased body weight
*A hypocaloric diet or hypercaloric diet
4 days is not a significant delayed period.
With passing of time our organs and fertility change.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
