What Causes Delayed Periods And Sore Breasts While Trying To Conceive?

Hi I,m 43. Been trying to get pregnant for a few months. My periods always on time, but this one was over 3 days late. I have been feeling sick on and off for about a week now, and started my period unfortunately last night. I thought i might have been pregnant, as my breasts were really sore also. Still feeling sick in the stomach, is it normal period or possibly early miscarriage?
