General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing to HCM.
I understand your concern.
i-pill is an emergency contraceptive pill which has to be taken within 72 hours after having unprotected sex. Earlier it is taken, protection seems still better. Since it has been taken within 5 hours following the act, it should offer protection against pregnancy.
No need to be tensed as she can get her periods anytime within 3 weeks from the day of taking i-pill.
If it is delayed beyond that, then you need to seek medical attention immediately to get evaluated for what would be the reason. Then it can be managed accordingly.
Hope the information provided would be useful for you.
All the best.
