Hi,
Following guidelines must be adhered to:
1. Emergency
contraceptive works best when taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex and since you have taken within the stipulated time thus the possibility of
pregnancy is minimal [95% effective] however to allay
anxiety go for UPT [urine pregnancy test] or take the opinion of a Gynecologist.
2. Since it is a contraceptive and not
abortion pill thus remember it will not work if you were already pregnant so don't take it as the main form of birth control.
3. Also, rule out certain lifestyle changes done recently [if any] like:
- Excessive stress
- Loosing or putting too much of weight
- Heavy exercises
- Suffering from PCOD [polycystic ovarian disease] or having a high level of
prolactin [hormone]
It is best to seek suggestions to know why you have missed your periods, a gynecologist would be ideal to consult, do seek/consult a doctor for appropriate examination/investigations.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
