What Causes Delayed Periods, Itchy Vagina With Rashes Post Implant Insertion?
I had an implant when I was 14 and everything was so normal except my periods was non stop got it taken out about 1 year and half ago, I went on the injection was no good and neither was the pill so I decided to get an implant again, as that seems best I ve had it in for about 2 and half weeks its still sore and its itchy, I keep getting rashes around it and I m over a week and half over due on my period I took a pregnancy test this morning it was negative should I be worried?
The itchy vagina post implant insertion may be due to bacterial infection or sensitivity to copper content of the implant. My guidelines at present: - immediate implant removal - avoid all other barrier contraceptives and protected vaginal intercourse till recovery - culture and swab report of the cervical discharge or mucosal scrap for antibiotic susceptibility test and complete course of anti fungal, antibiotics to cure it at earliest - maintain hydration with plenty of liquids - balanced nutritious diet to combat low immunity to fight against microbes
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
