Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Delayed Periods Post Having Intercourse?
I am 3 days late on my period. I took a home pregnancy test yesterday and it was negative. I didn't have sex in my predicted ovulation time, in fact it was at least a week after. I don't know if I should wait a little longer before going to the doctors but I am never late.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
As you told that you had regular periods everytime previously, delayed periods in you post intercourse most probably are due to pregnancy. Pregnancy test can be negative in early pregnancy due to lesser amount of HCG hormone in urine. If you are pregnant the HCG hormone will start increasing with time. You should do Urine pregnancy test again but this time use first morning urine sample. You can also do a blood pregnancy test it is more reliable.
If pregnancy test again comes negative & still your periods doesn't come. Consult a gynaecologist.
Hope this information helps
