What Causes Delayed Periods With Brown Discharge?

hi i had a copper coil fitted last october strings checked and all fine i take my period regular and last abouy 10 days very heavy bleeding until this last month i am abput 2 weeks late had some brown old blood discharge the other day bot nothing else, done preg test after week and was negative??
