General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If your periods are delayed you will need to have a pregnancy test. If it comes out negative you will need to repeat it in the next 2-3 days. Negative pregnancy tests indicate a lack of pregnancy so all that is needed is just observation. Normally the periods will come back in the next week or two. Using hormonal therapy to alternate the periods will affect them and may cause them to not be regular.

If you get negative pregnancy tests and your periods are not resuming in the next month you will need to see your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
