What Causes Delayed Periods?

I have taken I pill within 24 hours of having unprotected intercourse. my period has been delayed for over a month. I took pregnancy test as well 2 weeks after I missed my period. The results came out to be negative. Can you help me with the cause.i am quite tensed!
