What Causes Delayed Periods?

Hi! I expected my period last May 6. Usually my period start a day before schedule, only very rarely I will have it 2 days before schedule. But this didn t happen ever since...delayed period for 5 days, which I am now. I bought an early pregnancy test kit which I planned to use tomorrow morning, however, just now, I have a brown discharge in my underwear. Does this mean I m going to have my period? or if I m pregnant, is this brown discharge expected? I m dizzy, nauseaus, and have cramps for 3 days now. Should I still use the pregnancy kit tomorrow morning? Please help!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The brown discharge indicates old blood and it may be premenstrual. However, pregnancy cannot be ruled out either. If you do not get your period as expected, do a home pregnancy test.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
