Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Gabapentin is used to treat postherpetic neuralgia, that is a neuropathic complication of herpes zoster. The pain can persist more than 3 months. There is no definitive algorithm for the treatment of this pain.
If the gabapentin is helpful, you can continue your treatment and review regularly by your doctor.
Do not stop taking gabapentin unless your doctor tells you to, this is normally done gradually over a number of weeks.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
I find this answer helpful
