What Causes Dent On Skull?

I have a dent or depression on my skull but have not had a head injury or trauma. Is it just to the right of center, about 3-4 inches in length, and is parallels to midline. it does not hurt, and is not hurt and is closed--no drainage. what could it be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

It could just be a depression in the fusion of the fontanels and if so should have been there from the very beginning and you may have just noticed it now. Either way I would recommend a doctors visit because these things require a physical examination and cannot just be discussed verbally. But in my opinion there should be nothing to worry about.

Best wishes.
