Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. You have undergone
hysterectomy 30 years ago and have imbalanced hormones. A lot of females after total hysterectomy develop mood swings, crying spells, insomnia etc symptoms. Some females also develop weight gain, depressive symptoms also. For persistent crying spells, mood swings, weight issues I'd advise you to visit to your gynaecologist or to a
psychiatrist for treatment.
Hormone therapy can help to improve the crying spells and will normalise the weight also. But the therapy is associated with side effects and have some risks so should be avoided if possible. Consulting a psychiatrist can also help. Certain antidepressants like SNRIs as
Venlafaxine, Duloxetine etc can prove helpful in your symptoms. These drugs will reduce the crying and will help to improve the problems of insomnia and mood swings. For insomnia low doses benzodiazepines can also help.
Clonazepam, Etizolam etc can be utilised. Please visit a psychiatrist for prescription of these medicines. Improvement in mood will help to improve your activity and weight will be normalised.
Thanks, Hope this helps you. Take care
Dr. Seikhoo Bishnoi,
Psychiatrist.
